นนทบุรี, 18 กันยายน 2561 - บริษัท ไทยคม จำกัด (มหาชน) ผู้ให้บริการดาวเทียมไทย ประกาศความสำเร็จบรรลุข้อตกลงในสัญญาระยะยาว (Multi-year agreement) เพื่อให้บริการเป็นที่ปรึกษาทางธุรกิจและการตลาด ให้แก่ บริษัท บังกลาเทศ คอมมิวนิเคชั่นส์ แซทเทลไลท์ จำกัด (Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited; BCSCL) ซึ่งถือหุ้นโดยรัฐบาลบังกลาเทศ เพื่อพัฒนาการให้บริการของดาวเทียมบังกาบันฑุ-1 (Bangabandhu-1) ที่ได้จัดส่งขึ้นสู่วงโคจรค้างฟ้า เมื่อวันที่ 11 พ.ค. 2561 และเป็นดาวเทียมสื่อสารดวงแรกของบังกลาเทศ
การเซ็นสัญญาฉบับดังกล่าว ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญสู่เป้าหมายในการลดช่องว่างและส่งเสริมกระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงสู่ยุคดิจิทัลให้แก่ประเทศบังกลาเทศ เพราะดาวเทียมบังกาบันฑุ-1 จะใช้เพื่อการถ่ายทอดสัญญาณออกอากาศโทรทัศน์และโทรคมนาคมทั้งในบังกลาเทศและประเทศอื่นๆ ในภูมิภาคเอเชีย รวมถึงการใช้งานเพื่อสนับสนุนภารกิจการช่วยเหลือในเหตุการณ์ภัยพิบัติต่างๆ
นายอนันต์ แก้วร่วมวงศ์ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บมจ. ไทยคม กล่าวว่า "ขอขอบคุณ BCSCL ที่ไว้วางใจให้ไทยคมเป็นบริษัทที่ปรึกษาด้านพัฒนาธุรกิจและการตลาดของดาวเทียมบังกาบันฑุ-1 เพื่อให้บริการในหลายประเทศของภูมิภาคเอเชีย ไทยคมเชื่อมั่นว่าจากประสบการณ์ในการริเริ่มและพัฒนาศักยภาพดาวเทียม ผนวกกับความเชี่ยวชาญในการให้บริการเครือข่ายภาคพื้นดิน เพื่อมุ่งลดช่องว่างในการติดต่อสื่อสารในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิคนั้น จะเป็นส่วนที่ช่วยส่งเสริมความสำเร็จในการทำธุรกิจให้แก่ดาวเทียมบังกาบันฑุ-1 เหมือนเช่นในอดีตที่ไทยคมเคยประสบความสำเร็จในการจัดส่งดาวเทียมไอพีสตาร์ ซึ่งเป็นดาวเทียมบรอดแบรนด์ดวงแรกของโลกขึ้นสู่วงโคจรเมื่อปี 2548”

Thaicom and Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Sign Consulting Contract
Nonthaburi (Thailand) and Dhaka (Bangladesh), 18 September 2018 – Thaicom Public Company Limited (Stock Exchange of Thailand: THCOM), a leading Asian satellite operator and provider of integrated satellite end-to-end solutions, and Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited (BCSCL), a Bangladesh Government owned satellite operator, announce the signing of a multi-year consultancy service agreement.
Under the agreement, Thaicom will provide BCSCL comprehensive business and market development services for the Bangabandhu Satellite-1, the first ever geostationary satellite of Bangladesh that was successfully launched on 11 May 2018.
The contract is a next critical step in the national objective to narrow the digital divide and promote the digitalization process in Bangladesh. The satellite program will enable the country to fulfil its demand of satellite related services by itself and will introduce broadcasting and telecommunication services to rural areas of Bangladesh and other countries in Asia. The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will also support rescue operations in the aftermath of disasters.
